About Us

We are a not-for-profit, non-political organization committed to serving the Ethiopian community in Massachusetts.

Serving Our Community Since 2013

Ethiopians have reached a population of over 40,000 in Massachusetts, and that number continues to grow. Many newcomers face numerous adjustment problems, including culture changes, feelings of depression, and the deep sadness of losing a family member. An awareness of these problems and a compelling need to mitigate these situations led to the creation of MAEM in 2013.

Our Mission

The Mutual Association of Ethiopians in Massachusetts (MAEM) is a tax-exempt organization committed to serving its members during times of crisis and socioeconomic need. We are a community of compassion and mutual support.
